About DSCB

History

Diamond State Concert Band was founded in 1976 by Alfred J. Belak as the Mt. Plesant Community Band. The first rehearsals were at Mt. Plesant High School and with 35 members, played our first concert on July 4, 1976 in Clamont, Delaware. Other early rehearsal sites have included Haby Jr. High School and St. David’s Episcopal Church.

In 1984, the band changed its name to Diamond State Concert Band to better reflect the regional nature of its membership and audience.
